Skip Panettiere, Hayden’s father, is a retired firefighter from the New York City Fire Department.
In 1987, he married Vogel, and together they had two children: Hayden, born on August 21, 1989, and Jansen Panettiere, born on September 25, 1994. After 21 years of marriage, they separated in 2008.
Lesley initiated divorce proceedings in 2012 due to domestic issues, and the divorce was finalized in 2016.
The following year, Skip married Mekdem Panettiere after dating for two years.
Hayden shared on Instagram in June 2020, “My dad got remarried a few years ago to my amazing stepmother at the church I grew up going to, which is next door to the house I grew up in,” she wrote.
Before Hayden’s passing, she expressed having a “great relationship” with Skip.
In a May 2026 cover story with Us Weekly, she said, “I actually went and lived with him and my stepmom for a while, where I was born and raised in Rockland County, and felt like being at home regrounded me. Being around family reminded me of who I am at my core.”
