Fashion Week is not just about the runway shows anymore. It has become a playground for fashion enthusiasts, influencers, and aspiring fashion industry insiders to showcase their personal style and gain some attention outside the shows. Communications student Loane Concy Clementia is one of those individuals who has mastered the art of standing out on the streets of Paris during Fashion Week.
Loane, a 21-year-old communications student, can be seen outside some of the biggest shows at Paris Fashion Week, donning a stylish ensemble that includes a black bra, a white lace and satin skirt, and a white fur bomber jacket draped off her shoulders. Despite not having a ticket to the actual show, Loane happily poses for photographers, collecting the photos taken of her from photographers or finding them on Instagram. With a degree in sewing and fashion design, Loane’s passion for fashion is evident in her carefully curated street style looks.
But Loane is not alone in her quest for photo ops and rubbing elbows with the fashion elite outside the shows. Makeup artist Cannelle, who recently moved to Paris, also finds herself outside fashion shows, dressed in outfits that align with the designers’ aesthetics. She plans to reshare the photos on her social media platforms to showcase her unique style and love for fashion.
The street style scene has come a long way since the early days of fashion blogging. Influential photographers like Scott Schuman and Tommy Ton paved the way for street style photography, capturing the fashion crowd outside shows and parties. With the rise of Instagram, street style photography has exploded, attracting a new wave of photographers and subjects, most of whom are influencers or aspiring influencers.
Today, outside fashion shows, you can expect to see a mix of industry insiders, celebrities dressed in designer ensembles, and fashion enthusiasts like Loane and Cannelle, all vying for their moment in the spotlight. Instagram has become a powerful tool for sharing street style looks, with platforms like Vogue Runway curating daily roundups of the best street style from each fashion week city, captured by photographers like Phil Oh.
As Fashion Week continues to evolve, so does the street style scene. It has become a platform for self-expression, creativity, and a way to connect with the fashion community. Whether you have a ticket to the show or not, the streets outside the fashion shows are just as important as the runways inside, showcasing a diverse range of style and personalities.
