The readers of have propelled “The Letitia Files,” which includes my articles and contributions by Sam Antar, into the national spotlight and caught the attention of the Department of Justice regarding the dubious mortgage practices of NY Attorney General Letitia James.
Last night, Laura Ingraham on The Ingraham Angle showcased an eight-minute segment featuring an interview with Jonathan Turley, a distinguished law professor from George Washington University and a contributor to Fox News. In this segment, Ingraham and Turley reiterated several points that regular Gateway Pundit readers would already be familiar with over the past two weeks.
The crux of the discussion was Turley’s commentary on a new criminal referral concerning Letitia James, submitted by the U.S. Federal Housing FHFA Constitution Center to U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi and Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche. A criminal referral, or a referral for prosecution, serves as a formal request urging prosecutorial authorities (like the Department of Justice) to investigate and potentially prosecute an individual for suspected criminal actions.
This referral was penned by William J. Pulte, the Director of U.S. Federal Housing FHFA. In it, Pulte references details from Sam Antar’s article, which revealed that James allegedly “falsified records” to secure home loans for a property in Virginia while claiming it as her “principal residence” in 2023, all while holding her position as a New York state prosecutor.
This situation unfolded in late August 2023, just weeks before James initiated her civil fraud trial against Donald Trump, which focused on the purported inflation of property values, ultimately leading to a staggering $454 million judgment against him.
“As New York’s Attorney General, Ms. James is legally required to maintain her primary residence in New York, despite her mortgage applications indicating her intention to make the Norfolk, VA property her primary home,” the referral states.
“It appears Ms. James’ property and mortgage-related misrepresentations may have extended to her recent 2023 Norfolk, VA property acquisition, likely to secure a lower interest rate and more favorable loan conditions.”
In support of his claims, Pulte attached documents from my article, “Mortgage Fraud Alert: Did Letitia James Marry Her Father?”, which showed that James purchased a property alongside her father as a co-mortgage borrower, but misleadingly listed them as “husband and wife” in 1983 and 2000. “While this occurred some time ago, it raises significant concerns about the legitimacy of Ms. James’ assertions on mortgage applications,” he stated.
Turley remarked to Ingraham, “She actually claims that her father is her husband to file as a married couple. These are misleading statements. Either it’s your primary residence or it isn’t. Either you’re married to your father or he’s just your father.”
The criminal referral letter also draws from my article titled “Big Development: Is Letitia James Guilty of Mortgage Fraud?”.
“A January 26, 2001 certificate of occupancy indicates this property has five units. However, on February 14, 2001, Ms. Letitia James purchased this five-family dwelling while securing a conforming loan through the Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac Form 3033. Conforming loans are typically only available for structures with four units or less. Over the last two decades, Ms. James has repeatedly misrepresented this property as having only four units in both building permit applications and various mortgage documents,” Pulte continued in the letter.
He further stated, “Ms. James may have misrepresented the Brooklyn, NY property as having four units instead of five to qualify for conforming loan requirements and thus secure better interest rates. It appears she also employed this same misrepresentation to obtain mortgage assistance through HAMP.”
Ingraham commented, “In the New York case, to obtain a favorable rate, the building could only have four units, yet it seems the entirety of this building has five units, putting it in violation of the actual loan agreement.”
Turley concluded, “If we apply the Letitia James standard that she created, there would be little question here. This seems quite straightforward. The irony is almost crushing—this is a person who has prosecuted Trump for everything short of peeling a label off a mattress.”
