Wichita police are reaching out to the community for assistance in locating a woman who was reportedly abducted early Sunday morning, an incident that has left local residents feeling anxious.
Officials have shared surveillance images that captured the woman around 2 a.m. on Sunday, October 12, in the 1400 block of North Volutsia, situated between Grove and Hillside.
Authorities have been actively pursuing various leads throughout the day and expressed gratitude for the community’s support.
“We’ve dedicated the day to this investigation, following numerous leads, and we appreciate the public’s assistance,” the department posted on X.
Currently, neither the man nor woman depicted in the footage have been identified. Police are considering all possibilities and have sought assistance from regional and federal agencies.
The 20-second video clip shows a woman being forcibly dragged away from a residence while she screams for help.

According to authorities, the footage was likely captured by a residential security camera, a prevalent feature in the neighborhood.
Investigators enhanced the audio from the video to minimize background noise, hoping to identify the woman’s voice. Police urged locals to review the footage carefully and to contact detectives at 316-268-4407 with any information.

A resident, who had just returned from a family visit in Mexico, expressed concern over the safety of young women in the neighborhood.
“It’s dangerous. That’s the reality. I believe kidnappings have always been a risk,” she stated in an interview with KAKE News, adding that she had never witnessed anything of this nature in her area.
