Expected Release Date for Invincible Season 4

The latest updates suggest that Invincible will return in March 2026. The confirmation for the fourth season came in July 2024, which was unsurprising given the overwhelming success of Mark Grayson’s saga on Prime Video, with plenty of comic stories still available for adaptation.

Potential Plotlines for Invincible Season 4

Currently, no official plot synopsis has been revealed for season 4. However, we’ve identified seven significant narratives we believe will play a role.

Angstrom Levy’s Revenge

Following the gruesome showdown in season 2, Mark believed he had killed the deranged scientist blaming him for his misfortunes. Yet, in season 3, Angstrom emerged for vengeance against Invincible, this time accompanied by a group of Mark’s evil counterparts from alternate realities, wreaking havoc across multiple cities and killing countless civilians. Ultimately, Earth’s heroes triumphed over the alternate Invincibles, but Angstrom escaped through a portal to another dimension, where robotic doctors restored his life.

These enigmatic beings, originating as humans who integrated cybernetics to endure a ravaged alternate Earth, now have plans of their own for Angstrom, requiring him to assist in their schemes. Season 4 may see the return of the mad scientist, possibly with his robotic allies eager to conquer Earth.

Invasion of the Viltrumites

The gradual invasion of this superhuman race remains a pivotal story arc within Invincible. In the climax of season 3, a ruthless Viltrumite named Conquest finally arrives on Earth. His clash with Mark and Oliver results in widespread destruction. Ultimately, Mark and Atom Eve manage to defeat Conquest, who, although thought to be dead, is actually captured and detained by Cecil in a concealed facility, with hopes of extracting information about the Viltrumite empire.

It is likely that Conquest will escape in the upcoming season, leading him to either reign terror on Earth once more or possibly rally more Viltrumites for a larger invasion.

Weapon Search Against the Viltrumites

Season 2 established that the seemingly fictional novels written by Nolan were in fact memoirs of his past encounters, including mentions of artifacts powerful enough to challenge the Viltrumites.

Among these was the Infinity Ray possessed by Space Racer, known to unleash an unstoppable energy wave with the potential to obliterate anything. The Rognarrs, formidable lizard-like beings from a planet with extreme gravity, also posed a threat to the Viltrumites.

Since these weapons weren’t referenced in season 3, we expect Mark’s quest for Space Racer and the Rognarrs to lead him to potential alliances in season 4 for the battle against the Viltrumite threat.

Nolan’s Redemption Journey

After the devastation on Earth and his time on Thraxa, Nolan was subsequently captured by the Viltrumites and sentenced to death for his treachery. With Allen the Alien’s assistance, he managed to escape, resulting in the demise of his captors. In season 4, Nolan, weighed with guilt and yearning for his family, may join forces against the Viltrumites, though his unpredictable nature, being deeply rooted in Viltrumite ideals, complicates his allegiance.

The Sequid Threat

Previously, after escaping the Sequids on Mars, astronaut Rus thought he was safe. However, he faced attack yet again from the octopus-like creatures that had somehow infiltrated Earth.

In a reminiscent Alien-like sequence, the Sequid took control of Rus’s body. They remained dormant through season 3, revealed to be breeding in the sewers and gearing for a larger assault. Thus, season 4 could see Invincible contend with an invasion of these body-snatching parasites.

Invasion by Demons from Hell

In the universe of Invincible, Earth is under threat from various villains and alien species, with demons from Hell now on the horizon. The season 3 finale introduced Damien Darkblood, a demon detective investigating past murders. His unexpected return in the finale hinted at a collaboration with a demon overlord to reclaim power.

In the comics, Darkblood’s storyline concluded abruptly, which creator Robert Kirkman expressed regret over. He indicated a desire to tell a tale involving superheroes battling in Hell, a plotline anticipated for the show.

Regrettably, Rex Splode, voiced by Jason Mantzoukas, will not return for season 4 due to his character’s demise in the altercation against Mark’s malevolent counterpart.
