Apple has once again delivered on its promise of releasing a new major version of iOS every year, and in 2024, it is no different with the introduction of iOS 18. This latest iteration of the operating system comes with a host of small tweaks that will be available across all compatible iPhone models. However, the real excitement lies in the new suite of AI features that will only be accessible to owners of the latest iPhone models.

During the launch of the iPhone 16, Apple confirmed the release date for both iOS 18 and Apple Intelligence. While iOS 18 is set to be released on September 16, existing iPhone users can update their devices to the new version from that date onwards. On the other hand, the new Apple Intelligence features will start rolling out in October, initially to members of the Apple Beta Program before being gradually expanded to more users in the following months. The new features will initially be available in US English, with plans to include localized English in other regions by December.

In terms of compatibility, Apple has provided a list of iPhones that will support iOS 18. This includes all iPhone models from the iPhone 12 series onwards, as well as the second-generation iPhone SE. However, the exclusive Apple Intelligence features will only be accessible on the iPhone 15 Pro models and all four iPhone 16 models.

Some of the exciting new features that users can expect in iOS 18 include enhanced home screen customization options, a new controls gallery for the lock screen, improved privacy options for apps, updates to iMessage with new formatting options and RCS support, organizational tools in Mail, a redesigned Photos app with new display and sharing options, topographical maps in Maps for hiking and walking, reminders in the Calendar app, and Tap to cash feature in Wallet for instant cash transfers between phones.

In addition to these features, Apple Intelligence will bring a whole new level of AI capabilities to Siri and various apps, exclusively available on the iPhone 15 Pro models and iPhone 16 range. These AI features are set to revolutionize the user experience and enhance the functionality of Apple’s devices.

Overall, iOS 18 promises to be a significant update for iPhone users, with a range of new features and enhancements that will make using Apple devices even more seamless and enjoyable. Stay tuned for the release of iOS 18 and Apple Intelligence to experience the future of mobile technology.
