Recently, Illinois Governor JB Pritzker voiced his concerns about Democrats being labeled as fascists, which is almost comedic given the political landscape.
It seems noteworthy that his party has spent considerable time – on national television no less – branding Trump and the GOP with labels like fascists, Nazis, and worse. The consistency of these claims is so staggering it’s difficult to keep count.
However, it seems one shouldn’t dare reciprocate the label; that would be met with severe disapproval.
For further context, here’s a transcript retrieved from Donald Trump for President on Facebook:
Governor JB Pritzker: “For Donald Trump and the MAGA Republicans in Congress, this isn’t about public safety; this is about sowing division and intimidation among Americans. It’s about creating a pretext to deploy armed military troops in our communities – a strategy to accumulate power in Trump’s hands. We should be concerned about what he intends to do with that power, particularly in the lead-up to the 2026 elections.”
“Moreover, the Trump administration’s attempts to silence critiques—like labeling the Democratic Party as fascist and threatening to revoke broadcast licenses—can only be interpreted as an assault on the Constitution.”

Let’s reflect on how Governor Pritzker himself has previously referred to Trump and the GOP:

In a similar vein, consider the rhetoric surrounding ICE from liberal media:

According to David Strom on Hot Air:
“It’s astonishing that J.B. Pritzker consistently rises to the top in Democrats’ discussions about presidential candidates. His imposing demeanor may work in his favor, but his extreme positions on various issues – from immigration and healthcare to crime and trans rights – make him a contentious figure.”
“Nonetheless, Pritzker’s presence on any list shouldn’t shock anyone, particularly when Pete Buttigieg is considered a serious contender. One can only imagine the visual dynamic in a debate between him and Gavin Newsom.”
“Regardless, I doubt Pritzker’s worries about Republicans using the term ‘fascist’ will gain traction given how often they wield it themselves.”
If Pritzker finds the label of fascist troubling for his party, perhaps it would serve him well to reconsider its application entirely.
