At the close of last week, the US government compelled Anthropic to withdraw its latest models, Fable 5 and Mythos 5, due to national security concerns. This action followed allegations by Amazon researchers that they had discovered a method to circumvent the security measures of Fable 5.

In response, cybersecurity researchers have signed an open letter labeling the government’s decision as dangerous. Anthropic has also highlighted that similar vulnerabilities are present in other models. This raises questions about whether the issue is a real security threat or part of ongoing tensions between Anthropic and the Trump administration.

In a recent episode of JS’s Equity podcast, hosts Anthony Ha, Sean O’Kane, and Rebecca Bellan discussed the implications of this ban for developers using Anthropic’s platform and for those observing the IPO. They also explored how this ban might inadvertently benefit the company, along with other significant news from the week.
