Jabil Inc. (JBL): A Key Player in Manufacturing Services
Jabil Inc., headquartered in Saint Petersburg, Florida, is a prominent provider of manufacturing services and solutions with a market capitalization of approximately $25 billion. The company excels in various areas, including digital prototyping, printed electronics, device integration, circuit design, and volume board assembly.
As a member of the “large-cap stocks” category, defined as companies with a market capitalization of $10 billion or more, JBL exemplifies market robustness, demonstrating significant influence in the electronic components sector. Jabil’s diverse operational model and extensive global presence afford it manufacturing flexibility, while deep supply chain expertise helps minimize costs and optimize fulfillment speed, thereby maintaining a competitive edge in the marketplace.
Jabil’s stock recently achieved a 52-week high of $233.82 in the latest trading session. During the past quarter, JBL shares have experienced a 13.1% increase, though this has lagged behind the Technology Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLK), which registered a growth of 17.5% within the same period.
Over the long term, JBL has risen impressively, gaining 62.1% year-to-date (YTD) and an astounding 104.7% over the past year, significantly outpacing XLK’s YTD gains of 21.6% and 27% on a yearly basis.
Confirming its bullish trend, JBL has consistently traded above both its 50-day and 200-day moving averages throughout the last year, despite some price volatility.
The success of Jabil can be attributed to robust growth in crucial sectors including cloud computing, data center infrastructure, and capital equipment, all driven by the surging demand for AI-related technologies. Notably, Jabil’s Intelligent Infrastructure segment, as well as growth in digital commerce and warehouse automation industries, also played a significant role in the company’s performance.
On June 17, JBL shares surged by 8.9% following the release of impressive Q3 results, boasting an adjusted earnings per share (EPS) of $2.55 compared to Wall Street’s expectation of $2.33. Furthermore, the company reported a revenue increase of 15.7% year-over-year, amounting to $7.8 billion. Looking ahead, Jabil anticipates a full-year adjusted EPS of $9.33 alongside projected revenues of $29 billion.
In comparison, Jabil’s competitor, Fabrinet (FN), has achieved notable success as well, with a 77.1% increase YTD, though it has fallen short of JBL’s 68.2% uptick over the past 52 weeks.
Analysts on Wall Street are optimistic about JBL’s future, with the stock carrying a consensus rating of “Strong Buy” from the 10 analysts monitoring it. The average price target of $234.89 suggests a slight potential upside from current trading levels.
