In an intense battle for the New Jersey governor’s seat, Republican candidate Jack Ciattarelli is closing the gap with Rep. Mikie Sherrill, recent polling indicates. Their contest has become remarkably competitive in recent weeks.
The latest survey from Quantus Insights reveals that Sherrill is leading with 48.1% of likely voters compared to Ciattarelli’s 45.8%. This small margin falls within the survey’s margin of error and represents a significant drop for Sherrill from her previous 10-point advantage noted in a Labor Day poll.
This striking poll highlights Ciattarelli’s strong appeal among Independent voters, where he claims 51% support against Sherrill’s 38%. Furthermore, a significant 76% of voters are desiring change in leadership.
For a significant portion of the campaign, Sherrill maintained a strong lead over Ciattarelli, but the latest data aligns with a number of recent polls that suggest a fiercely competitive race.
Ciattarelli’s resurgence aligns with findings from multiple recent polls, including those from Emerson College Polling and an internal poll suggesting that the race is essentially tied.

Sherrill’s previous advantage of nearly ten points has dwindled to just a 4.7-point lead based on the latest RealClearPolitics polling average.
It’s worth noting that the RCP average had previously underestimated Ciattarelli’s support by roughly five points during the 2021 election.
Additionally, a recent Fox News poll has indicated that Ciattarelli is narrowing the gap, with Sherrill currently leading by 8 points, 50% to 42% among likely voters.
