Jacki Weaver Joins Cast of NBC’s “The Rockford Files” Reboot Pilot
Oscar-nominated actress Jacki Weaver has been announced as the latest addition to the cast of NBC’s highly anticipated “The Rockford Files” reboot pilot. Weaver will be starring alongside David Boreanaz and Michaela McManus in the upcoming series.
In the pilot, Weaver will portray the character of Karma, a brand new addition to the series who is described as Rockford’s long-time trailer park neighbor. Karma is depicted as a tough, outspoken activist and think-tank analyst, adding an interesting dynamic to the storyline.
Weaver, known for her impressive work in both film and television, has previously appeared in popular shows such as “Clipped,” “Yellowstone,” and “Hello Tomorrow.” She has received critical acclaim for her roles in movies like “Silver Linings Playbook” and “Animal Kingdom,” earning multiple Oscar nominations for her performances.
The reboot of “The Rockford Files” was ordered by NBC earlier this year, with Boreanaz playing the lead role of Jim Rockford, a private investigator with a sharp wit and strong moral compass. McManus will star as Kate, a detective with a complicated romantic history with Rockford.
The show is being produced by Universal Television, with Mike Daniels serving as writer and executive producer. Carl Beverly and Sarah Timberman are also executive producers on the project, with Greg Mottola attached to direct the pilot episode.
The logline for the new “Rockford Files” reads: “A contemporary update on the classic series, following James Rockford as he returns to his life as a private investigator after being wrongly imprisoned. Based on the original series created by Roy Huggins and Stephen J. Cannell, “The Rockford Files” aired on NBC from 1974 to 1980. The reboot promises to bring a fresh take on the beloved classic, with Weaver’s addition to the cast adding even more excitement to the project.
