Jake Paul is gearing up to face former middleweight champ Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. in less than a month and he is confident that he will beat Chavez Jr. so convincingly that it will propel him to his own championship victory.
During an appearance on the TMZ Sports TV show, Jake discussed the upcoming fight with Chavez Jr. scheduled for June 28th in Southern California.
“I’m feeling better than ever,” Jake stated. “This will be a defining moment for me.”
“It’s going to be a tough fight. Someone will be humiliated, and it won’t be me. I’m training harder than ever. This is my most challenging opponent to date. Maybe not the most renowned opponent, but it will still be a great fight,” Jake added.
Chavez Jr., aged 39 and son of the legendary Julio Cesar Chavez Sr., boasts a wealth of experience with 64 professional fights under his belt.
There have been criticisms of Chavez Jr. in the past, particularly regarding his work ethic. However, Jake revealed that Chavez Jr. is taking this fight more seriously than any other in his career.
In addition to the Paul vs. Chavez Jr. fight, UFC legend Holly Holm, known for defeating Ronda Rousey in a famous MMA moment, will be making her return to boxing on the same card.
Holm, who recently signed with Jake’s MVP promotion, will be facing Yolanda Vega in a 10-round boxing match, marking her first boxing bout since 2013.
Jake’s promotion, MVP, has been actively promoting women’s boxing, including fighters like Amanda Serrano. When asked about the possibility of adding other female boxing stars like Claressa Shields to the roster, Jake expressed openness to the idea.
Despite some past criticism from Shields towards Jake, he remains willing to collaborate with her in the future.
