Representative Jamie Raskin, noted as both the ranking member of the House Judiciary Committee and a respected constitutional scholar, recently articulated critical concerns on CNN’s *News Central*. He connected various dots to assert that the Department of Justice (DOJ) under Trump appears to be engaged in substantial cover-up efforts.

Raskin highlighted the significance of the Epstein evidence in the context of ongoing investigations:
 “Our pursuit of the Epstein files is paramount, as these were promised to us by individuals in the Trump administration, including President Trump himself, Pam Bondi, and Kash Patel. We are particularly interested in the audio and video evidence linked to allegations of bribery within the immigration sector, where it seems a government official was selling contracts. This information surfaced incidentally, either from overhearing conversations during other investigations or from whistleblowers. Importantly, it appears the FBI has recorded materials relating to this case.”
“We believe these documents are crucial, especially given the DOJ’s apparent dismissal of what seems to be serious wrongdoing.”
CNN’s Kate Bolduan pursued clarity, asking Raskin, “You’ve mentioned the Comey case alongside the Epstein files. How do they connect?”

Rep. Raskin responded:
“The DOJ is presently under considerable influence from Trump. Just as they are accommodating Trump’s wishes concerning James Comey, they also seem to be facilitating the cover-up of more serious cases. We recall how the Trump administration pressured the former U.S. Attorney for New York, Danielle Sassoon, to suppress a grand jury investigation against Mayor Adams, who had grown politically close to Trump.”
“We are witnessing a blatant politicization of the DOJ. Yet, we are actively working to acquire what seems to be pertinent information regarding actual crimes, rallying bipartisan support to halt this cover-up. The demand is clear: release the Epstein files.”
Through his remarks, Raskin drew a line, indicating a pattern of cover-up from the Trump era, linking it to the decisions surrounding figures like Tom Homan and Jeffrey Epstein.
The Khanna-Massie petition, aiming to force a vote in the House on the Epstein files, has gathered sufficient support to proceed, raising questions about the DOJ’s independence and its susceptibility to political pressure.
Raskin did not shy away from calling out the hypocrisy ingrained in the current situation, suggesting that a shift in the House majority may unveil significant challenges for the DOJ ahead.
