New Zealand’s Black Caps coach, Rob Walter, expressed his sympathies for pace bowler Adam Milne, who unfortunately had to withdraw from the upcoming T20 World Cup due to a torn hamstring.

Milne sustained the injury while playing in South Africa’s SA20 league, and subsequent scans confirmed the severity of the damage, rendering him unable to participate in the World Cup in India and Sri Lanka.

In his absence, the 33-year-old Milne has been replaced by all-rounder Kyle Jamieson, currently engaged with the New Zealand white-ball teams in India in preparation for the global tournament.

Expressing his disappointment, Walter remarked, “We’re all gutted for Adam. He’d put in the hard work to prepare for the tournament and was showcasing his best form during his appearances for the Eastern Cape Sunrisers.”

Wishing Milne a speedy recovery, Walter endorsed Jamieson as a fitting replacement, stating, “It’s fortunate that Kyle is already part of our squad here in India. He brings valuable skills and experience to our pace-bowling unit, which will serve us well in the tournament.”

Walter also mentioned that a replacement traveling reserve for the T20 World Cup would be announced in due course.

The Black Caps are set to face India in the second T20 international in Raipur on Saturday at 2:30 am (NZ time).
