Jason Momoa Reflects on Hosting Ozzy Osbourne’s Final Gig Before His Death

Jason Momoa recently appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, where he shared his memories of hosting Black Sabbath’s final performance, just weeks before Ozzy Osbourne’s passing. The legendary rocker, who died on July 22, 2025, after battling Parkinson’s disease, had his last show on July 5 in Birmingham, England.

Momoa, a self-proclaimed fan of Osbourne, described the experience as unforgettable and expressed his love and admiration for the iconic musician. Sadly, Osbourne passed away shortly after the event, leaving Momoa and many others in mourning.

The Aquaman star recalled the Black Sabbath gig as “absolutely insane,” comparing it to the star-studded SNL50 party he attended in 2025, where he rubbed shoulders with industry heavyweights like Cher. Momoa also shared a heartwarming moment of getting into a mosh pit with his son Nakoa-Wolf during a performance by Pantera, who were supporting Black Sabbath.

Osbourne’s cause of death was reported as cardiac arrest, acute myocardial infarction, coronary artery disease, and complications from Parkinson’s disease. He is survived by his wife Sharon and their children Aimee, Kelly, and Jack, as well as children Jessica and Louis from a previous marriage.

According to Tom Morello, who collaborated on Black Sabbath’s Back to the Beginning farewell gig, Osbourne was aware of his declining health leading up to his final performance. Morello described Osbourne as “frail” but noted that he was determined to feel the love of his fans one last time on stage.

Reflecting on Osbourne’s passing, Morello called it tragic and emphasized the rocker’s resilience and the miracle of his long life. Despite the sadness of his death, Osbourne’s legacy as a music icon and his impact on the industry will continue to be celebrated by fans worldwide.
