Apple TV has released a fresh trailer for the upcoming fourth season of “Ted Lasso,” set to premiere on August 5.
In the new season, Jason Sudeikis’ character, Ted Lasso, is confronted with the task of coaching a second division women’s soccer team. Alongside Sudeikis, familiar faces such as Hannah Waddingham, Juno Temple, Brett Goldstein, Brendan Hunt, and Jeremy Swift return, and they are joined by newcomers Tanya Reynolds, Jude Mack, Faye Marsay, Rex Hayes, Aisling Sharkey, Abbie Hern, and Grant Feely.
Since its debut in 2020, “Ted Lasso” has rapidly become a hit on Apple TV, amassing over 25 billion minutes of viewership, as previously reported by Variety.
The renewal of the series for a fourth season was confirmed in March 2025, dispelling rumors that the third season would conclude the series. Brett Goldstein, who portrays Roy Kent and writes for the show, mentioned to Sunday Times that the series was initially intended as a three-season project. Co-creator Jason Sudeikis had earlier told Entertainment Weekly in 2021 that he saw the narrative as a “three-season arc,” expressing satisfaction that they were funded for three seasons but remained uncertain about future developments.
Throughout its three seasons, the series has earned 13 Emmy Awards and 61 nominations, with accolades for Brett Goldstein as supporting actor in a comedy series in 2021 and 2022, Jason Sudeikis as lead actor in 2021 and 2022, Hannah Waddingham as supporting actress in 2021, and Sam Richardson as guest actor in 2023. The debut season held the record for the most nominations for a Season 1 comedy series with 20 nominations, a record surpassed by “The Studio” in July with 23 nominations.
