Vice President JD Vance addressed the nationwide affordability crisis on Tuesday, attributing high housing prices to Democrats, while President Donald Trump is delaying a bipartisan bill that could alleviate these costs.

“I would love it … if they were willing to work with us on lowering housing prices, on lowering gasoline prices, on actually making the lives of American citizens better,” Vance told Fox News host Laura Ingraham.

“We could have some real bipartisan compromise.”

Last week, Congress passed the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act with significant majorities. However, Trump canceled the signing to push for approval of his extensive voting procedure changes.

The act was crafted to tackle widespread homeownership affordability issues. It aims to lower costs by expediting single-family home development and restricting private equity firms from purchasing these properties.

Trump is withholding the bill to compel Congress to pass the SAVE America Act, requiring citizenship proof for voter registration and photo ID for voting, responding to what Trump baselessly claims is a “National Emergency” of voter fraud.

Vance faced criticism for blaming Democrats for the affordability crisis.

“Vance is not only a damn liar, but stupid! The House and Senate passed a housing bill to do just that, and Trump refuses to sign it,” wrote one X user, with another stating: “Liar. Trump refuses to sign the affordable housing act, and he’s also responsible for the high fuel prices.”

The vice president immediately changed the subject after blaming Democrats for high housing and gas prices, which skyrocketed after Trump launched his war on Iran earlier this year, and trashed the opposition.

“They are talking about abolishing the police and letting criminals rule our cities,” Vance said about democratic socialists who won their primaries last week. “That is a fundamental transformation of the Democratic Party. It’s very bad for our country … and it just drives home why we have to keep these people from getting close to power.”

Trump’s war has not only driven up gas prices but sparked fears of a global energy crisis, as Iran responded to joint U.S.-Israeli strikes in February by effectively closing the Strait of Hormuz, through which a fifth of the world’s oil passes.

Vance was trounced by social media critics as “delusional” — and worse.

I’m old enough to remember when every single House Republican voted against the gas price gouging bill. Trump is the one holding up a bipartisan housing bill. pic.twitter.com/Psh57sliG9

OMG! Dems are running on AFFORDABILITY. @JDVance is running on CORRUPTION.

They did, and your boss chose to screw Americans over for the SAVE Act.

There’s a bipartisan bill waiting for the President to signed, which he has refused to do.
And when Republicans had control of Congress the last two years of Biden’s presidency Republicans refused to work with him on a anything.

What? My god , the lies. He must have a confession box in tow.

Dems already passed the bipartisan housing bill with veto-proof majorities.

Trump just called it “a yawn,” killed the signing, and said SAVE Act first.

JD Vance is out here blasting Dems anyway.

Olympic level hypocrisy.
