Billionaire Amazon founder Jeff Bezos has debunked a Daily Mail article claiming that he and his fiancée, Lauren Sánchez, are planning a $600 million wedding next weekend. The story, published on Saturday, stated that Bezos and Sánchez were set to tie the knot on Dec. 28 at actor Kevin Costner’s ranch in Aspen, Colorado. However, Bezos’ team denied these claims.
In response to a post on X (formerly known as Twitter) from fellow billionaire Bill Ackman on Sunday, Bezos addressed the report. Ackman had expressed skepticism about the $600 million figure, stating that it was virtually impossible unless each guest was to receive a house as a gift. Bezos clarified that the entire story was false, emphasizing the importance of not believing everything one reads.
Bezos, who has been engaged to Sánchez since May 2023, urged caution and warned against being gullible in the face of misinformation. He also expressed curiosity about whether news outlets that had reported on the false wedding plans would issue corrections once the truth emerged.
Prior to his relationship with Sánchez, Bezos was married to novelist and philanthropist MacKenzie Scott, while Sánchez was married to Patrick Whitesell, the executive chairman of William Morris Endeavor.
Overall, Bezos set the record straight regarding the extravagant wedding rumors, emphasizing the need to verify information before accepting it as truth.
