An unusual customized chess set, commissioned by the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, has recently surfaced. This peculiar set features Epstein himself alongside nine young women, all posed in suggestive manners to represent each piece on the chessboard.
Images acquired by TMZ reveal the pieces, highlighting a figure of Epstein adorned with a gold crown and a robe in contrasting colors, representing the kings in the set.
The creative process spanned several months, initiated when a group of women in their twenties approached a New York City photo studio in 2016, seeking a photoshoot that would inspire their chess piece designs, as reported by the outlet.
The women returned to the studio on several occasions, always elegantly dressed and capturing a total of approximately 600 photos, according to the report. Following this, the studio crafted 3D replicas based on these images, resulting in a complete set of 36 chess pieces, including pawns, rooks, knights, bishops, and queens.
The group claimed to be affiliated with a chess club but chose not to disclose any details about its president, the outlet stated.
<pAs Epstein approached the conclusion of this endeavor, he came in to take his own pictures. Interestingly, the staff member assisting him seemed unaware of Epstein's notorious background. During the interaction, Epstein reportedly claimed he wasn't even sure how many pieces should be on a chessboard, as noted by TMZ.
The custom chess set was ultimately priced at $5,000—a modest sum considering Epstein’s estimated $600 million net worth at the time of his suicide in 2019 at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in New York.
