Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck Reunite at Kiss of the Spider Woman Premiere

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck made a striking reunion on the red carpet.

The former couple, who finalized their divorce earlier this year in February, attended the premiere of Kiss of the Spider Woman on October 6 in New York City. Lopez, 56, takes the lead role in the film, while Affleck’s production company, Artist’s Equity, is behind the project.

Lopez captivated on the carpet, wearing a custom Harris Reed structural gown that accentuated her figure. Her hair was styled back elegantly, complementing delicate earrings that allowed the dress to take center stage. Affleck complemented her style in a classic blue suit paired with a crisp white shirt.

The duo appeared joyful as they posed for cameras, sharing smiles and moments of laughter before heading into the screening.

During a conversation with Extra, Affleck revealed his motivation for getting involved with the film, which is set to hit theaters on October 10. “Matt Damon and I started this company with the intention of financing unique films,” he stated. “We’re dedicated to supporting artists who take risks and want to make innovative movies. This is the essence of what we strive for with our productions—giving opportunities to showcase incredible talent.”

Affleck expressed enormous pride in Lopez’s performance, describing it as “incredible” and sharing how “proud” he is of the movie. He remarked, “She poured her heart and effort into this role. You can witness her many talents throughout the film, and she has always admired classic musicals.”

Affleck acknowledged her exceptional skills in acting, singing, and dancing, stating, “She showcases all her talents in this film.”

Based on the 1976 novel by Manuel Puig and the 1993 Broadway adaptation, Kiss of the Spider Woman revolves around a prisoner named Valentin (Diego Luna) who shares a cell with Molina (Tonatiuh), a convicted window dresser. An unexpected bond forms between them as Molina recounts tales of a Hollywood musical featuring his idol, Ingrid Luna (Lopez).

Lopez has been vocal about her appreciation for Affleck during her promotional efforts for the movie, stating it wouldn’t have come to fruition without his assistance.

“I am so grateful, thank you everyone for being here. Thank you, Ben, because this movie wouldn’t have been possible without you and Artist Equity,” Lopez expressed before the screening, according to People. “Reading the script while in bed left me awestruck: ‘Could this actually be happening? I get to sing, dance, act, and embrace the glamour of classic Hollywood!’”

The couple married in 2022 after once being engaged decades prior. Following a brief marriage, Lopez filed for divorce two years later, noting April 26, 2024, as the separation date.

During a recent spot on CBS Sunday Morning, the “Waiting for Tonight” singer discussed balancing her work on Kiss of the Spider Woman alongside personal challenges in her marriage to Affleck. “It was tough not to have those thoughts, but I experienced the best and worst simultaneously,” she shared. “Every moment spent on set brought me joy, while home life less so. Yet, ultimately, it was a transformative experience for me—it promoted growth and self-awareness, making me a different person than I was last year.”

Kiss of the Spider Woman premieres in theaters on October 10.
