Despite their cordial interactions post-divorce, Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck have no intention of rekindling their romantic relationship.
As multiple sources shared with Us Weekly, âThey are not getting back together but are in a good place where they can communicate well and maintain a friendship. It took considerable time for them to reach this point.â
Affleck and Lopez, who is now 56, publicly reconnected for the first time since their divorce was finalized at the premiere of Lopez’s latest film, Kiss of the Spider Woman, on October 6. The two appeared cheerful and posed together for photos on the red carpet, sharing laughter before the screening began.
Lopez looked stunning in a bespoke earth-toned floral dress by Harris Reed, showcasing her elegance with her hair pinned up to highlight her delicate earrings and finished the ensemble with HASSANZADEH jewelry. Affleck chose a complementary blue suit paired with a crisp white shirt.
Sources indicate that Affleck attended the Kiss of the Spider Woman premiere due to his production involvement with the film.
âThereâs nothing romantic going on between them. He attended as a producer,â a source clarified.
Affleck co-founded his production company, Artist’s Equity, with friend Matt Damon, which produced this adaptation of the Broadway musical. At the event, he discussed with Extra what attracted him to the project.

âMatt and I founded this company with the aim of financing unique films,â he elaborated during his discussion. âWe were eager to invest in art that pushes boundaries, allowing talented individuals to express their brilliance.â
Affleck complimented his ex-wife’s performance, calling it âincredible.â
âShe worked diligently,â he noted. âYou witness her many talents, as she’s someone who has always admired classic musicals,â he added.
The couple, who initially became engaged years ago, married in 2022. However, Lopez filed for divorce in August 2024 after just two years of marriage, and they reached a divorce settlement earlier this year.
In a recent interview, Lopez candidly shared her experience balancing filming Kiss of the Spider Woman amidst her marital struggles.
âIt was challenging to focus on both,â she reflected. âIt felt like the best and worst of times. On set, I was elated, while at home, things were tough,â she revealed during a September segment on CBS Sunday Morning. âUltimately, this experience turned out to be life-changing for me, fostering personal growth and heightened self-awareness. Iâm not the same person I was last year.â
