New York Jets cornerback Kris Boyd is fighting for his life after sustaining a gunshot wound in New York City in the early hours of Sunday morning.
According to the NYPD, the shooting occurred around 2 AM near Times Square. Responding officers found Boyd, 29, collapsed on the sidewalk with a gunshot wound to his abdomen.
Emergency medical services rushed Boyd to the hospital, where he remains in critical condition as confirmed by law enforcement officials.
The Jets released a statement acknowledging the incident, stating, “We are aware of the situation involving Kris Boyd and will not be providing further comments at this time.”
No arrests have been made, and the shooter is still at large. Authorities reported that the assailant fled the scene in a blue BMW. Investigations are ongoing to determine the nature of the attack and whether Boyd had any prior connection to the perpetrator.
Boyd recently joined the Jets this season after playing for the Vikings and Cardinals in the past.
