Jim Acosta, a well-known journalist and former chief White House correspondent for CNN, has recently made a significant career move by signing with WME for representation. Acosta’s journey in journalism began in 2007 when he joined CNN after gaining experience in local radio and television, as well as with CBS News. Throughout his career, he has covered a wide range of important issues, including the 2004 presidential election, the Iraq War, and Hurricane Katrina.
During his time at CNN, Acosta reported on Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton’s campaigns for the 2008 presidential election, followed by covering Mitt Romney’s presidential campaign in 2012. He eventually rose to the position of senior White House correspondent during Obama’s second term, and later became the chief White House correspondent in 2018 during Donald Trump’s presidency.
Earlier this year, Acosta made the decision to part ways with CNN and transitioned to independent journalism on Substack. With over 300,000 subscribers, including more than 10,000 paid subscribers, Acosta has found success in this new venture. He hosts daily live broadcasts on Substack, featuring notable guests such as Pete Buttigieg and Leader Hakeem Jeffries. Recently, Acosta hosted his first in-person event, a town hall with guests Don Lemon and Michael Cohen.
Now, with WME by his side, Acosta plans to further expand his independent journalism business through additional partnerships, digital distribution, and live events. WME, a prominent talent agency, also represents other renowned journalists such as Robin Roberts, Kaitlan Collins, Joe Scarborough, and Rachel Maddow. They have been instrumental in supporting Substack launches for various journalists, including Norm Eisen, Jennifer Rubin, Cori Bush, Jamaal Bowman, and Oliver Darcy.
Acosta’s partnership with WME signifies a new chapter in his career, as he continues to make a mark in the world of journalism through his independent work and collaborations. His dedication to reporting on important issues and engaging with his audience remains unwavering, and with the support of WME, Acosta’s influence and reach are expected to grow even further in the future.
