Joe Biden Pardons Son Hunter Before Leaving White House
As his time in the White House drew to a close, President Joe Biden made a controversial decision to pardon his youngest son, Hunter Biden, sparing him from going to prison.
In a statement released by the White House, President Biden explained his reasoning behind the pardon: “Today, I signed a pardon for my son Hunter. From the day I took office, I made a commitment not to interfere with the Justice Department’s decision-making process, and I have upheld that promise. However, I have witnessed my son being unfairly targeted and prosecuted.”
President Biden continued, “Throughout my career, I have always believed in being transparent and honest with the American people. It is my firm belief that the justice system should be fair and impartial. Unfortunately, in this case, I believe that political motivations have tainted the legal process, leading to an unjust outcome. After much contemplation, I decided to grant this pardon to prevent any further delay.”
He concluded by saying, “I hope that the American people can understand the difficult position of a father and a President in making this decision.”
The pardon was issued just days before Hunter Biden was scheduled to be sentenced for his conviction on federal gun charges.
