But working with Bella and Pedro was great. Bella is such a talented young actress, and Pedro is a consummate professional. They both brought so much to their roles and really helped elevate the scenes we shared together. It was a pleasure to work with them both.

Overall, Pantoliano’s role as Eugene in Season 2, Episode 6 of “The Last of Us” showcases his ability to bring depth and emotion to even the smallest of parts. His performance adds a layer of complexity to the storyline and leaves viewers with a lasting impact. As the series continues to unfold, fans can look forward to seeing more of Pantoliano’s talent on display.

There are parts of my experience that have been erased. Memories that have faded over time, faces that I struggle to recognize. But then there are moments that come rushing back, like a flood of emotions and connections that never truly disappear. One such moment was when I reunited with Pedro Pascal on the set of a project we were both working on. The excitement and warmth in his greeting made me realize that some connections are truly unforgettable.

Pedro and I had worked together many years ago on a play reading, when he was just a young, skinny kid of 21. And now, here he was, a big movie star, still as friendly and genuine as ever. He reminded me of moments we had shared, pictures we had taken, and conversations we had had. It was like stepping back in time, rekindling a friendship that had stood the test of time.

As an actor, I often find myself immersed in the characters I portray, focusing on their motivations and desires. But sometimes, the material is so well-written that it becomes almost effortless to inhabit that character. Working with Bella and Pedro on this project was one such experience. Their chemistry and rapport made it easy for me to slip into the role, to feel the history and connection between our characters.

Throughout my career, I have played a variety of roles, some more challenging than others. But this particular role, portraying Eugene going through the cordyceps infection, was emotionally draining. The scene where Eugene screams for Gail’s last words broke my heart every time we filmed it. Neil, our director, pushed me to delve deeper into that emotional well, to bring out the raw pain and vulnerability of the character.

Filming the scene where Joel shoots Eugene at the mountain lake was a beautiful yet challenging experience. The idyllic setting was marred by swarms of bugs that disrupted our filming. Despite the setbacks, we pushed through, capturing the emotional intensity of the moment. Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances, I was unable to complete the scene with Pedro, and had to be replaced by a photo double. It was a bittersweet ending to a powerful scene.

As an actor, I have learned to adapt and overcome challenges, to breathe life into characters that may seem one-dimensional on paper. But it is moments like these, moments of connection and shared experiences, that remind me why I love what I do. And even though some memories may fade with time, the impact of those connections remains etched in my heart forever.
