Paddy Pimblett was left fuming after rewatching his UFC 324 fight against Justin Gaethje. The main source of his frustration stemmed from the eye pokes committed by ‘The Highlight’ during the bout. Additionally, Pimblett took issue with Joe Rogan’s assessment of a suspected low blow by Gaethje, which he believed was incorrectly deemed legal.
Upon reviewing the fight, Pimblett adamantly argued that one of his knee strikes that was ruled a low blow actually landed on the belt line and not below the belt. He accused Gaethje of exaggerating the impact to buy himself some time to recover. In a recent segment on his YouTube channel, Pimblett expressed his frustration by stating, “That knee to the body never hit him low. That hit him on the belt line, doesn’t touch his cup. We have seen Usman doing something similar against Colby, didn’t we? Might be a tactic they use.”
Pimblett also took aim at Joe Rogan for defending Gaethje’s actions, particularly in regards to the suspected low blow. He expressed his disbelief at Rogan’s assertion that the strike was legal, citing inconsistencies in officiating and decision-making during the fight.
Looking ahead, Gaethje is slated to face off against lightweight champion Ilia Topuria in his next fight. Topuria, who has been on a break from MMA due to personal issues, is reportedly ready to make his return to the octagon after settling his divorce.
In the aftermath of his loss to Gaethje, Pimblett wasted no time in setting his sights on his next opponent. The Scouser called out French MMA standout Benoit Saint-Denis, expressing his eagerness to climb back up the lightweight rankings. Pimblett criticized the ranking system for placing Saint-Denis above him, particularly after his victory over Dan Hooker, whom Pimblett deemed as subpar competition.
In a bold move, Pimblett openly challenged Saint-Denis to a fight, declaring, “Europe’s two best lightweights going at it against each other.” The potential matchup between Pimblett and Saint-Denis promises to be an exciting showdown between two rising stars in the European MMA scene.
As Pimblett looks to bounce back from his defeat and make a statement in the lightweight division, all eyes will be on his next move and whether he can secure a fight with Saint-Denis. Stay tuned for more updates on Paddy Pimblett’s journey back to the top of the UFC rankings.
