John Cho has been announced as the newest addition to the star-studded cast of the upcoming Apple TV series, “The Off Weeks.” The drama already boasts big names like Ben Stiller, Jessica Chastain, Arian Moayed, Annaleigh Ashford, and Richard Gere.
The show follows the story of writing professor Gus Adler, played by Stiller, whose life is thrown into chaos by a divorce. He struggles to hold things together during his “on weeks” when he has custody of his kids. However, during his “off weeks,” he finds himself dangerously falling in love with Stella West, portrayed by Chastain. Their budding romance puts Gus’ responsibilities during his on weeks and his personal ambitions during his off weeks on a collision course.
Cho is no stranger to Apple audiences, having recently appeared in the series “Murderbot” and the second season of “The Afterparty.” He also starred in the Korean spy drama series “Tempest” on Disney+. Cho’s impressive TV credits include “Poker Face,” “The Sympathizer,” Fox’s “The Exorcist,” and “Selfie.” In film, he is best known for his roles in the “Harold & Kumar” franchise and as Sulu in the rebooted “Star Trek” movies.
The talented actor is represented by 3 Arts, UTA, and Yorn Levine Barnes. Executive producers for “The Off Weeks” include Stiller and John Lesher from Red Hour, as well as Chastain and Kelly Carmichael from Freckle Films. Alissa Nutting, known for her work on “Made for Love” and “Teenage Euthanasia,” serves as showrunner and executive producer. Michael Showalter and Jordana Mollick executive produce for Semi-Formal Productions, along with Paul Lee and Gabriel Fisher for wiip. Peter Principato, Allen Fischer, and Brian Steinberg executive produce for Artists First, while Dean Bakopoulos also serves as an executive producer. wiip will act as the studio for the series.
