JoJo’s pre-show ritual provides a glimpse into the dedication and preparation that goes into her performances. Starting her day with a coffee and workout, she prioritizes getting her heart rate up and sweating before heading to the venue. Once there, she takes her time to do warmups, makeup, and relax, listening to music by talented singers like Jasmine Sullivan, Cynthia Erivo, Whitney Houston, Anita Baker, and Chaka Khan to get in the zone.

Before hitting the stage, JoJo also does a voice warmup that she learned from a teacher she’s worked with over the years. This routine helps her prepare mentally and physically for her performance, ensuring that she is at her best when she steps into the spotlight.

When it comes to her must-haves on tour, JoJo prioritizes healthy snacks like fruit, with pineapple being her favorite for its mucus-fighting enzymes. She also opts for berries, coffee, local honey, and Evian water, while trying to reduce plastic waste by using refillable water bottles. A delicious smelling candle is also a must for JoJo, providing a familiar and comforting vibe no matter where she is performing.

JoJo’s favorite song to perform changes, but currently, she is loving playing “Dissolve” on stage. However, she does reflect on a past embarrassing moment on tour where she gave a strip tease to a randomly chosen audience member, a decision she now looks back on with a mix of embarrassment and acceptance.

Despite the occasional embarrassing moment, JoJo takes all requests in stride, even the strange ones like signing body parts or faces. She remains open-minded and non-judgmental, embracing the unique experiences that come with being a performer.

As for pre-show nerves, JoJo admits that she gets nervous before every performance. Seeking guidance from a sports psychologist to help her get in the zone and perform under pressure, she focuses on being of service to her audience and community, rather than getting caught up in her own thoughts and anxieties.

JoJo’s behind-the-scenes secrets offer a fascinating look at the work and dedication that goes into each of her performances, showcasing her passion for music and connection with her fans. With her Too Much to Say Tour in full swing and new music to share, JoJo continues to captivate audiences with her talent and authenticity.

As a musician, JoJo reflects on the importance of embodying the essence of a song and being a vessel for the emotions and messages it conveys. She acknowledges the spiritual aspect of her artistry, recognizing that being in tune with the moment and the energy it requires is what truly empowers her.

On her favorite tour souvenir, JoJo shares a meaningful tattoo she received in New Zealand. The Maori tattoo tells a story of everyone who has been a part of her life, both past and present, shaping her into the person she is today. This tattoo serves as a constant reminder of the connections she has made and the experiences that have influenced her journey.

After a show, JoJo indulges in adaptogenic drinks that help her unwind without the use of alcohol. These beverages provide a sense of relaxation and tranquility, allowing her to wind down after a performance. Paired with a nourishing meal, JoJo sets the stage for a peaceful night’s rest, taking care of both her body and mind.

JoJo’s approach to music and self-care highlights her commitment to authenticity and well-being. By staying true to herself and honoring the moments that inspire her, she continues to evolve as an artist and as a person.
