“Daily Show” host Jon Stewart on Monday criticized the “horrible violence” in Minnesota over the weekend, as well as the lack of action from politicians on the right.
Stewart expressed disbelief at the response to the tragic events, highlighting a shooting incident where a state lawmaker and her husband were killed, and another lawmaker and his wife were injured.
He then proceeded to list numerous other mass shootings that have occurred in the past 25 years, pointing out the inadequate response from politicians.
Stewart played clips of GOP figures defending gun rights and accusing Democrats of politicizing mass shootings.
He criticized the hypocrisy of politicians who are quick to take drastic measures on certain issues but fail to address gun violence effectively.
Stewart particularly called out Sen. Mike Lee for making insensitive remarks about the shootings, highlighting his lack of empathy and understanding.
Stewart recounted a disturbing encounter with Lee in Washington, emphasizing the senator’s disconnect from the severity of certain situations.
