The ICE agent involved in the shooting of protester Renee Nicole Good in Minneapolis
The ICE agent who fatally shot protester Renee Nicole Good in Minneapolis is identified as Jonathan Ross, a Trump-supporting Christian, and war veteran who is married to a Filipina wife, according to his family members.
Ross, 43, was the agent who opened fire on Good after she allegedly attempted to run him over with her SUV on a suburban street on Wednesday.
Amidst anti-ICE protests and increased political tension following the incident, Ross’s family defended him, describing him as a kind and loving person.
“He’s a committed, conservative Christian, a tremendous father, a tremendous husband. I couldn’t be more proud of him,” said his father, Ed Ross.
Ross, an Iraq War veteran, married his Filipina wife in 2012. His in-laws are doctors residing in the Philippines.
According to reports, Ross has been working as an ICE agent since at least 2013 and is a member of the ICE ERO Special Response Team based in Minneapolis.
Details of Ross’s background emerged after a previous incident where he was dragged 100 yards during a traffic stop involving an illegal immigrant in Bloomington, Minnesota.
In the wake of the fatal shooting, President Trump and Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem praised Ross’s actions, asserting that he acted in self-defense.
