London-based artist Josh Gluckstein has been pushing the boundaries of creativity by using recycled cardboard to craft intricate animal sculptures. His latest masterpiece, titled “Reef,” stands at an impressive two-and-a-half meters tall and features a diverse array of fish and coral.

Inspired by his love for scuba diving and the mesmerizing underwater world, Gluckstein wanted to bring the beauty of marine life to the surface. The attention to detail in “Reef” is evident, with over 50 different marine species meticulously recreated in cardboard form. From sea turtles to clown fish, each creature adds to the vibrant ecosystem depicted in the sculpture.

Displayed at Homo Faber 2024 in Venice, an event celebrating artisanal craftsmanship from around the world, “Reef” serves as a testament to the wonders of the ocean. Through his work, Gluckstein aims to raise awareness about the fragility of marine life and the environmental challenges that threaten these ecosystems.

The exhibit runs until September 30, offering visitors a chance to marvel at Gluckstein’s intricate creations. To see more of his work, visit his website and Instagram page.

In a similar vein, Ghost Net Collective also creates marine animal sculptures using salvaged ocean waste, shedding light on the impact of pollution on marine ecosystems. These artists, including Gluckstein, use their craft to inspire conservation and appreciation for the natural world.
