Rachel Sennott and Josh Hutcherson are confident about their families watching their intimate scene in the premiere episode of the new HBO Max comedy series, “I Love LA.”
“I warned my parents,” Sennott, who not only stars in the series but is also its creator, shared at the “I Love LA” premiere at the Paramount Theatre. “It doesn’t matter because it’s still going to be shocking but also, they’ve seen it before. They’ve seen my previous work and I’ve had intimate scenes in that too.”
“They’re sex positive,” she added. “My sex positive queens – my parents!”
In the series, Sennott portrays an aspiring talent manager who has an unexpected reunion with her former bestie, an influencer played by Odessa A’zion. Hutcherson plays Sennott’s boyfriend.
Reflecting on past experiences, Hutcherson recalled his great-grandmother being present on set during a group scene in “Future Man,” a sci-fi television series where he plays a janitor and gamer traveling through time to save the world.
“I’ve seen some questionable things over the years that my great-grandma has even seen,” Hutcherson said. “My great-grandma was on set the day we were shooting a group scene on ‘Future Man.”
He didn’t anticipate her presence during that particular scene. “I didn’t realize the day she was coming also lined up with the shoot,” Hutcherson said. “She was coming no matter what. She was going to be there. She’s a very supportive great-grandma.”
Hutcherson’s character also appears full frontal on the show with a large prosthetic penis.
“It was comedy. It was comedic,” the actor explained. “I was not fully clothed. Grandma was like, ‘You know, it’s fiction. Very interesting, your job, Joshua.’”
He humorously added, “My family can hang.”
“I Love LA” is set to premiere on HBO Max on November 2nd.
The premiere event was attended by various celebrities including Leighton Meester, True Whitaker, Jordan Firstman, Charli XCX, Amy Gravitt, Casey Bloys, and more. The event showcased a glamorous red carpet with stars posing for photos and enjoying the celebratory atmosphere.
Overall, “I Love LA” promises to be a bold and entertaining series, with a talented cast and intriguing storyline that is sure to captivate audiences.
