Last week, Aurora made headlines with the launch of its driverless self-driving truck service, meeting a major milestone just under its deadline. However, this week, Aurora faces a surprising change in leadership as co-founder Sterling Anderson resigns from his position as chief product officer and the board. Anderson cited the exciting stage Aurora is at as the reason for his departure.

While Anderson’s destination remains undisclosed, he mentioned it will be an “exciting external opportunity in a senior leadership role at an iconic global company.” Aurora continues its operations without Anderson, announcing plans to send its self-driving trucks out at night and during adverse weather conditions by the second half of 2025. The company also aims to expand its driverless trucking route to include Houston, El Paso, and Phoenix in addition to Dallas.
