Despite a tough challenge from a visiting Crescent premier team, the Toko seniors emerged victorious with a thrilling 38-26 win over Kaitangata’s finest. The match was filled with excitement and entertainment for the jubilee crowd at the Milton Showgrounds.
After an evenly balanced first half, Crescent took a commanding lead of 20 points in the second half. However, Toko’s substitutes showed incredible determination and resilience, clawing their way back into the game.
A stellar performance by replacement front-row Jacob Jenkins, who scored a hat-trick of tries, brought Toko within two points. A crucial penalty kick by fullback Jared Hayes sealed the historic comeback, sparking joyous celebrations on the pitch.
Club president Brad Frost expressed his delight at the successful weekend, which included a formal dinner, presentations, and a “golden oldies” game. The jubilee was a perfect blend of rugby action and general jubilation.
With a packed clubroom and a vibrant atmosphere, the Toko Rugby Football Club jubilee was a truly special event that brought the community together in celebration.
