A federal judge in Manhattan on Monday denied the Trump administration’s request to release grand jury transcripts from the Justice Department investigation into convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein’s longtime confidant Ghislaine Maxwell.

The department had requested the court to unseal the transcripts, citing “abundant public interest” in the case, but Judge Paul Engelmayer ruled that there were no special circumstances justifying their release.

Judge Engelmayer stated that the transcripts would not provide any new insight into Epstein or Maxwell’s crimes, and therefore, their release was unnecessary.

He emphasized that the materials did not offer any significant information about the case or shed light on the circumstances surrounding Epstein’s death.
