Vice President Kamala Harris has agreed to participate in a debate with former President Donald Trump, scheduled for October 23. The invitation was extended by CNN, and Harris’s campaign chair, Jen O’Malley Dillon, expressed confidence that Trump would also agree to the debate.

In a statement reported by CNN, O’Malley Dillon stated, “Vice President Harris is ready for another opportunity to share a stage with Donald Trump. Donald Trump should have no problem agreeing to this debate.” Harris herself took to Twitter to confirm her acceptance of the debate invitation, expressing her eagerness to engage in a second presidential debate with Trump.

As of now, Trump has not responded to the invitation from CNN. The proposed format for the debate would be similar to the June debate, with Harris and Trump fielding questions from moderators for 90 minutes without a live studio audience, as reported by CNN.

CNN issued a statement emphasizing the importance of a second debate between the two candidates for President of the United States. The network looks forward to hearing responses from both campaigns to proceed with the debate and provide the American public with more insights from the candidates.

The first presidential debate between Harris and Trump took place on September 10, hosted by ABC in Philadelphia. The candidates discussed various topics such as abortion and immigration. Trump had previously debated President Joe Biden in June on CNN.

Following the September debate, Trump made a declaration on Truth Social, stating, “There will be no third debate!” It remains to be seen how Trump will respond to the invitation for a second debate with Vice President Harris on CNN.
