Prime Video India Announces Premiere Date for “The Traitors” Reality Series
Prime Video India has revealed the premiere date for “The Traitors,” a highly anticipated reality series hosted by renowned Indian media personality Karan Johar. Set to be the streamer’s biggest unscripted original to date, the show is an Indian adaptation of IDTV’s acclaimed format and will feature 20 celebrities competing in a test of trust and betrayal.
Produced by BBC Studios India Productions in collaboration with All3Media International, “The Traitors” marks Prime Video India’s foray into high-profile reality programming. The series is set to debut on June 12, with new episodes releasing every Thursday on the platform.
Nikhil Madhok, head of originals at Prime Video India, expressed excitement about expanding the platform’s unscripted content slate with “The Traitors.” He described the show as packed with drama, manipulation, suspenseful gameplay, and unexpected twists, all produced with high production values.
Johar’s role as host was praised for his ability to ignite competition among the celebrities vying for a substantial cash prize and the title of ultimate winner. The format of “The Traitors” has gained popularity worldwide, with over 35 adaptations in more than 30 countries.
