Karen Read, who was recently acquitted in a highly publicized murder trial, is teaming up with her lead defense attorney, Alan Jackson, and LBI Entertainment to develop a scripted project that will provide new insights into her story. The project, announced by LBI Production Head Julie Yorn, aims to delve into the complexities of Karen’s case and shed light on the challenges she faced in seeking justice.
According to Yorn, the project will not only be a legal thriller but also a reflection of the current societal climate where a single voice can make a difference. The team behind the project is dedicated to portraying Karen’s story with urgency, depth, and sensitivity, bringing to light aspects of the case that have not been previously disclosed to the public.
In addition to the scripted project, plans are in place for a book project that will involve both Karen Read and Alan Jackson. The publishing rights for the book are being managed by top literary agent Luke Janklow of Janklow & Nesbit, while CAA is handling the film and television rights.
Karen Read expressed her determination to fight against power and corruption, recounting her struggle to seek justice with the help of various resources, including private investigators, attorneys, and eventually the federal government. She emphasized the role of local residents and grassroots support in enabling her to stand up against injustice.
Alan Jackson highlighted the fragility of the justice system and the need to expose corruption through storytelling. He hopes that by sharing Karen’s story in all its complexity, the public will gain a deeper understanding of the challenges faced in confronting corruption.
Negotiations for the project are being handled by Alex Kohner of Yorn Levine on behalf of Karen Read and Alan Jackson, while Jared Levine of Yorn Levine represents LBI Productions.
