After Team USA secured the gold medal by defeating Canada in hockey, Patel joined the team in their locker room to celebrate and enjoy a beer. It was during this celebration that he decided to call Trump, cracking open a beer can while on the phone with him. Although it is unclear if Trump heard the sound, he extended an invitation to the team to attend the upcoming State of the Union address on February 24.
During the call, Trump mentioned involving Patel and the military to assist the team, to which Patel responded with a colorful expletive, expressing his readiness to help. While Trump did not address Patel’s language, he continued to congratulate the team and offer his support.
