In a recent interview with Fox News anchor Bret Baier, FBI Director Kash Patel unleashed a tirade against former FBI Director James Comey, specifically targeting Comey’s controversial Instagram post about President Trump that some perceived as a call for violence.
Patel expressed concern over the surge of “copycat” threats emerging nationwide as a direct result of Comey’s “8647” message. He argued that if Comey faced legal consequences for his actions, the alarming trend of threats against the President might very well cease.
In an amusing yet perplexing defense, Comey recently claimed he stumbled upon a curious arrangement of shells on a beach while walking with his wife. He recounted, “As we walked back towards the road, we noticed someone had arranged shells in the sand with numbers. My wife, Patrice, wondered why someone would put an address in the sand, and I speculated it might be a political statement.”
In a classic case of deflection, Comey shifted the conversation to his wife, recalling her experiences working in restaurants where the removal of an item from the menu indicated it was no longer available. “To me, as a kid, it always meant to leave a place, to ditch a place,” he added, justifying the shell arrangement’s supposed significance.
Despite the Secret Service’s investigation into the matter, which yielded no substantial findings, Comey continues to walk free while publicly criticizing both Trump and Patel, seemingly unfazed by the repercussions of his words. Patel lamented, “Do you know how many agents I’ve had to pull off other critical investigations to chase down child predators, fentanyl traffickers, and terrorists because people think threats against the President are a joke?!”
He further emphasized the absurdity of the situation, noting, “They can act with impunity because Comey did it first. That’s what I deal with daily, having to redirect my agents and analysts because he thought it was amusing to make a political statement.”
