A Rare Look Inside Kate Gosselin’s North Carolina Home
Kate Gosselin’s spacious kitchen boasts tall ceilings and opens up to a large living area with multiple comfortable sofas, providing ample seating for all eight of her children. While she shares her kids with her ex-husband Jon Gosselin, these days, the kitchen is home to Kate’s two cherished German shepherds, with their cozy dog beds occupying spaces on the floor.
Many fans have been intrigued by a particular piece of decor in Kate’s kitchen – sets of wooden hands placed on top of the entries leading to the family room. Kate explained in a video that these hands actually belong to each of her eight children. Originally displayed in their Pennsylvania home featured on “Kate Plus 8,” Kate strategically placed them in birth order from her eldest twin Mady’s hand on the right to her youngest sextuplet Joel’s hand on the left.
These unique wooden hands were crafted in 2009 by a friend’s brother after the kids had their hands traced onto the wood. Kate fondly refers to them as a prized possession, representing special memories from their childhood. The sentimental keepsakes add a personal touch to her home and serve as a reminder of the bond she shares with her children.
Jon and Kate Gosselin rose to fame with their family, consisting of twin daughters and sextuplets, on the reality show “Jon & Kate Plus 8.” Following their divorce in 2009, the show was renamed to simply “Kate Plus 8.” Kate continued filming with the kids until 2011, capturing their everyday lives and adventures at their home in Pennsylvania.
