Kate Gosselin is navigating her recovery from a knee injury with support from her partner, Steve Neild.
The 50-year-old reality star shared a “Day in My Life” video on TikTok on Tuesday, October 7, showcasing her journey after undergoing a significant leg surgery due to an incident involving her dog. The video featured moments such as a bowl of cereal and a cup of coffee on a tray in her lap while she relaxed in bed.
“Breakfast made with extra love… by you know who,” wrote the Jon & Kate Plus 8 alum, including a laughing emoji and seemingly acknowledging Neild. Although she has previously referred to him on her social media, she has mostly opted not to disclose his name for privacy. (Page Six identified him as Neild, her former bodyguard, last month. Since then, she has referred to him as “Steve” during a TikTok Live.)
“Protein/Fiber cereal with banana ❤️,” she added.
On September 30, Gosselin previously shared via TikTok that she had been hospitalized. In her post, she displayed a photo of her arm with an IV and requested her followers for prayers.
“I will be fine, but I’m scared and would appreciate your prayers! Thanks, guys,” she expressed, promising to update fans with a “story time when [she’s] able.”
She provided an update later that day stating she had endured one of the “top 3 most painful [surgeries].” Gosselin shared that her puppy, Meika, had “run into her” at full speed, which resulted in a tibial plateau fracture. Consequently, she underwent surgery to have “plates and pins” inserted in her leg.
The doctor characterized her injury as “life-altering,” and Gosselin mentioned that she was managing her discomfort with medication and utilizing an “ice machine” for her knee.
Following her discharge from the hospital, Kate, known for being the mother of twins Mady and Cara, 25, and sextuplets Aaden, Hannah, Collin, Leah, Joel and Alexis, 21, from her marriage to Jon Gosselin, reflected on her accident and expressed her relief as she began to recuperate.
“I just wanted to provide a brief update that my first night at home was wonderful, and it’s starting to sink in how helpless I am. It makes me reminisce about over 21 years ago, when I was on bed rest,” she recalled in one of her videos, reflecting on her pregnancy with her sextuplets.
Describing the moment when Meika crashed into her leg, she remarked, “I will never forget the force of that impact. It produced a thud sound — not a breaking bone sound, a thud sound. I just froze and collapsed.”
In her message, Gosselin addressed her detractors, stating, “Whatever, just know that you don’t know what I’m going through, and that’s fine, but we should all keep our negative comments to ourselves.”
Her recent accident occurred shortly after she disclosed on social media that she had been in a relationship for “the past year to a little over a year, maybe around 14, 15 months.”
“I am incredibly happy. It’s with someone I’ve known for quite some time, and I am very, very happy,” she shared in a video posted on September 23.
