The Newport Beach Film Festival has been a staple in Orange County, California since its inception in 1999. This year, the festival is expanding its horizons with the launch of Newport Beach TV Fest. Set to take place over four days at the Lido Theater and The Port Theater, this event will celebrate the artistry and creativity of television.
The festival aims to honor both the talent in front of and behind the camera, showcasing some of the top television shows from broadcast and streaming platforms. Gregg Schwenk, CEO and executive director of the Newport Beach Film Festival, expressed his excitement for the new venture, stating that television has never been more dynamic. He believes that the TV Fest is a natural progression in the festival’s mission to champion visionary filmmakers.
Scheduled during Phase 1 of the Emmys season, the Newport Beach TV Fest plans to attract a large gathering of Guild and Television Academy voters, making it a prime opportunity to recognize top contenders in the industry.
The festival kicks off with a live podcast recording featuring Kate Hudson, star and executive producer of Netflix’s “Running Point,” who will receive the TV Performance of the Year Award (Actress). The following night, Adam Brody will be honored with the TV Performance of the Year Award (Actor) for his role in Netflix’s “Nobody Wants This.”
Saturday’s events include a panel discussion with the cast of “Cobra Kai” and an Artist of Distinction Award presentation to Ralph Macchio for his role in the series. The day continues with a discussion featuring the cast of “Yellowjackets” and the presentation of the Outstanding Drama Ensemble Award.
Paramount+’s “Landman” will receive the Outstanding Drama Series Award, followed by a Breakout Award Panel featuring rising stars in the industry.
Sunday’s lineup includes the Variety Creative Impact Award presented to Jason Segel, a discussion with the cast of ABC’s “Abbott Elementary,” a live podcast with Dan Fogelman, and an award presentation to Sam Rockwell for his work on HBO’s “The White Lotus.”
With a diverse range of panels, discussions, and award presentations, the Newport Beach TV Fest promises to be a premier destination for celebrating the best in television artistry.
