Kathy Griffin took to Instagram on Tuesday to assert that she has been banned from Jimmy Fallon’s “Tonight Show.” She criticized Fallon for featuring UFC legend Conor McGregor, who was found liable in a sexual assault case in 2024, resulting in an order to pay $257,000 to a woman who accused him of rape.
“I have not appeared on the Jimmy Fallon show since it aired at 12:30 Eastern and Pacific, so I guess I’m banned, or maybe I’m just inappropriate or too controversial,” Griffin remarked. “I don’t really know. When you’re banned from a show — and if you know me, I’m banned from most of them. You’re welcome, America and Indonesia. They don’t usually inform you about the ban. They just seem unable to fit you in.”
A representative for “The Tonight Show” declined to comment. Sources familiar with the situation suggested that Griffin’s claim might be an exaggeration. A representative for Fallon did not immediately respond to Variety’s request for comment.
Griffin criticized Fallon for having McGregor on the show, describing it as a “bad call.” McGregor appeared on “The Tonight Show” on June 16 to promote his upcoming UFC comeback fight against Max Holloway.
“I think the Fallon team made a mistake by featuring Conor McGregor,” Griffin stated. “I believe it sends another message to women and marginalized communities that we are not equal and that people can act however they want towards us, yet the offenders will continue to be celebrated.”
In the caption of her post, Griffin added, “Fallon, what kind of message are we sending here?! AND can we PLEASE save canceling people for the ones who actually deserve it? Watch this week’s episode of ‘Kathy Griffin: Talk Your Head Off’ out now on my YouTube channel!”
