In a chilling echo of dystopian narratives, British media figure Katie Hopkins finds herself embroiled in potential legal troubles for what some are dubbing ‘thought crimes’ stemming from her online comedy events. This saga unfolded following a voluntary interview conducted by the Devon and Cornwall Police this past August, where Hopkins appeared at Exeter Police Station to discuss remarks made during her Instagram live show, ‘Katie’s Arms.’
As of now, no formal charges have been placed against her. Media commentator Steve Miller reported via X that, “BREAKING: Katie Hopkins has been interviewed under caution regarding her live broadcast of ‘Katie’s Arms.’ She alleges that she is facing repercussions for ‘online communications, crime of speech,’ and is currently ‘waiting to be charged.’”

Moments after her interrogation, Hopkins released a defiant address stating, “It’s Tuesday, the fifth of August here at Exeter Police Station. And I, Katie Hopkins, declare that I attended this interview under protest because I was threatened with arrest if I chose not to comply.”
She continued, “I consider this police investigation a blatant infringement of my freedom of expression as outlined in Article 10 of the European Convention on Human Rights. I reserve the right to pursue any necessary actions, including filing a formal complaint and seeking damages from Devon and Cornwall police.”
Elaborating on her comedy project, she remarked, “I run a comedy punk night called The Katie’s Arms, live every Friday at 8:00 PM on Instagram. This initiative started during the chaotic COVID lockdowns to support those grappling with mental health issues. The Katie’s Arms has evolved into a global community where we seek joy and laughter together.”
Hopkins asserted, “The audience chooses to join me on my platform. If someone finds the content offensive, that is their prerogative. It is absurd that my comedic expressions are now under police scrutiny, rendering my presence here utterly ludicrous.”
She concluded with, “I will not answer any questions. That was my statement to Devon and Cornwall Police today.”
