Katie Porter Allegedly Called Ex-Husband "F—ing Idiot," Dumped Hot Mashed Potatoes on Him

The fallout continues for Katie Porter… the candidate for California governor is making headlines for allegedly exploding in anger at her ex-husband years back, according to court documents, hurling accusations of stupidity and even dumping hot mashed potatoes on him, causing burns.

Legal filings indicate that Porter married Matthew Hoffman in 2003. However, their marriage deteriorated, leading to a divorce filing by Porter in 2013. Both parties sought domestic violence restraining orders against one another.

Hoffman’s documents outline that Porter frequently referred to him as a “f—ing idiot” and “f—ing incompetent.” He also claimed she smashed a coffee pot against their kitchen counter in frustration over their home’s cleanliness.

Hoffman recounted an incident where Porter lost her temper regarding his mashed potato preparation, exclaiming, “Can’t you read the f—ing instructions?”

He alleged that Porter then poured a “ceramic bowl of steaming mashed potatoes” on his head, resulting in burns.

According to Hoffman, Porter threw “toys, books, and various items” at him and took away his cell phone, claiming he was “too f—ing dumb to use it.”

Porter’s request for a restraining order reveals an argument in April 2013 where she accused Hoffman of grabbing her hands tightly and shouting that she was a “deaf f—ing bitch.” She reported him ripping dental floss from her hand and smashing a light switch in anger.

These revelations come to light following a recent incident where Porter appeared to lose her composure during an interview with CBS News while on her campaign trail.

Additionally, a resurfaced clip shows Porter angrily instructing a staffer to “Get out of my f—ing shot” during a 2021 Zoom session with then-Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm.

The fallout from these incidents may influence her campaign as she vies for the position of California’s next governor.
