The Bronx drill rapper Kay Flock, whose real name is Kevin Perez, recently faced multiple federal charges related to a fatal shooting in the Bronx in 2021. Despite being found guilty of attempted murder, Perez took to Instagram to boast about beating the top count and making the judge cry, claiming that he may not receive a life sentence.

In a defiant tone, Perez declared, “Never fold, never will,” showcasing his confidence even in the face of serious legal consequences. The rapper is scheduled to be sentenced on July 16 for his involvement in the shooting incident.

Perez and seven of his associates were implicated in a series of shootings that occurred in the Bronx between 2020 and 2022, resulting in the tragic death of 24-year-old Hwascar Hernandez. The victim was fatally shot outside a Harlem barbershop on December 16, 2021, as he attempted to flee the premises.

During the trial, Perez’s defense team argued that the shooting was carried out in self-defense, but the jury ultimately returned a guilty verdict after two days of deliberations. The charges against Perez included racketeering conspiracy, use of a firearm resulting in death, attempted murder, assault with a dangerous weapon in aid of racketeering, and other related offenses.

Acting U.S. Attorney Matthew Podolsky described Perez as the leader of a neighborhood street gang known as Sev Side / DOA, attributing a series of gang-motivated shootings to him and his associates. Podolsky emphasized that Perez used his status as a drill rapper to instill fear in the community through violent actions, threats to rivals, and provocative lyrics in his music.

Following the verdict, Podolsky reassured the public that the prosecution of gang members who perpetuate violence in the streets remains a top priority for law enforcement. He commended the efforts of the prosecutors and law enforcement agencies involved in bringing Perez to justice, stating that the cycle of violence associated with the rapper’s actions has come to an end.

As the sentencing date approaches, Perez faces the consequences of his actions and the impact of his criminal activities on the community. The case serves as a reminder of the importance of holding individuals accountable for their involvement in gang-related violence and ensuring the safety of residents in the Bronx and beyond.
