Keanu Reeves and his artistic partner, Alexandra Grant, continue to flourish in their relationship, which has now spanned nearly a decade.
The couple first showcased their bond publicly at the LACMA Art + Film Gala in November 2019, but their journey together began back in 2009. Their romance blossomed from Grant’s collaboration with Reeves on various artistic and literary endeavors, notably his books, Ode to Happiness and Shadows.
Though Grant has largely kept their relationship private, she did reveal to British Vogue in 2020 that their first red-carpet appearance made quite an impact among her acquaintances. “Every single person I knew reached out to me in the first week of November, and that’s quite fascinating,” she quipped. “But the question I continue to ask is: ‘What is the opportunity for good?’”
Reeves previously shared a romantic history with actress Jennifer Syme, who tragically passed away in a car accident in 2001, as well as with model China Chow. He has also admitted to having a little crush on fellow actor Sandra Bullock, who starred alongside him in Speed.
For a more detailed overview of Grant’s career and her long-lasting relationship with Reeves, continue reading below.
1. Grant Is a Respected Figure in the Art Community
A graduate of the California College of the Arts, Grant has been influenced by pop art pioneer R.B. Kitaj. Her inaugural solo exhibition took place at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles in 2007, after which she has participated in numerous exhibitions throughout the LA area. She focuses on the intersection of language and various forms of visual expression, with her exhibit “Born to Love” showcased at the Lowell Ryan Projects gallery in 2019.
Her academic accolades include serving as an adjunct professor at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena. Also, she has mentored Master’s students at the Pacific Northwest College of Art in Portland, Oregon, and at Syracuse University in New York. Notably, she was a visiting artist at the Vermont Studio Center in 2019.
In September 2023, Grant emphasized the importance of establishing her own career before entering a high-profile relationship with Reeves: “The advantage of falling in love as an adult is that I had already built my own career by the time our relationship started,” she explained to People. “I feel very confident in our relationship on the red carpet and also feeling secure when alone; it’s interdependent and independent in the best possible way.”
2. Grant Is a Philanthropic Advocate
In 2008, the Ohio native launched the grantLOVE project, an initiative that produces and sells original artworks, with proceeds benefitting artist projects and nonprofit organizations. She has collaborated with various childhood education programs, including the Heart of Los Angeles and the Lamar Foundation, as well as Project Angel Food, which delivers meals to those in need in Los Angeles, and The Union for Contemporary Art.
3. Grant and Reeves’ Connection Dates Back to 2009
The pair first crossed paths at a dinner party in 2009. Following this initial meeting, Grant illustrated Reeves’ books, Ode to Happiness in 2011 and Shadows in 2016.
In 2017, alongside artist Jessica Fleischmann, they co-founded X Artists’ Books in Los Angeles, which has published a diverse array of works. The publishing house also features a subscription model aimed at challenging and exploring the social, political, ecological, and cultural narratives that shape our world.
Grant’s work has been included in the XAB Subscription collections, alongside published works from notable contemporary artist Vincent Valdez, French playwright Hélène Cixous, and dancer Blondell Cummings, among others.
4. A Passion for Motorcycles Brings Them Together
Reeves, a devoted motorcycle enthusiast, founded his own ARCH Motorcycle Company in 2011 to design and manufacture custom bikes, developing models like the KRGT-1 and Method143 with a hands-on approach. Luckily for Reeves, Grant also shares a love for motorcycles, which he confirmed during an interview with E! News in 2022: “Alexandra actually rides motorcycles and can ride; we have taken a couple of trips on our bikes together. It’s been enjoyable!”
5. The Couple Addresses Wedding Speculation
As the internet buzzed with rumors that they had secretly wed over the summer of 2025, both Grant and Reeves quashed these claims. The John Wick star’s spokesperson clarified to E! News that the rumors were “not true,” emphasizing: “They are not married.”
Grant further dismissed the speculation in September 2025 by posting a photo of them sharing a kiss on Instagram, stating, “This is a real photo. Not an engagement photo or an AI wedding announcement… simply a kiss.”

Grant humorously added, “I’m sharing this photo here to express my gratitude for all the wedding congratulations. Except we didn’t get married! The good news is much needed these days, but it’s still fake news, so be vigilant!”
