Keith Urban is not purposefully omitting Nicole Kidman songs from his performances, contrary to some reports … he simply prefers to maintain variety in his shows.

Here’s the situation … during Urban’s concert in Hershey, Pennsylvania on Thursday — his first performance since Kidman filed for divorce — he notably skipped playing his song “The Fighter.”

“The Fighter” is a song Keith penned about unwavering support for Nicole during tough times — a poignant topic given the current circumstances that has drawn significant online discussion among fans.

Many media outlets latched onto this detail and speculated … interpreting it as a deliberate move by Keith to cast shade on Nicole amidst their issues.

However, a source close to Keith disclosed to TMZ that he varies his song selections each night to maintain excitement in his performances.

Essentially, this is not a slight directed at Nicole … and, Urban is likely to reinstate the song soon — possibly as early as his concert in Bristow, Virginia tonight!

Keep in mind … “The Fighter” has previously put Keith in a bit of a dilemma — as he did alter the lyrics and even acknowledged guitarist Maggie Baugh back in April just before the line, “I was born to love you.”

We reported previously … Nicole and Keith ssplit earlier this year — it was Keith’s decision, Nicole tried to salvage their marriage — and, they have been residing in different Nashville homes for several months now. Sources believe Keith is navigating a midlife crisis.

Although both celebrities are no longer wearing their wedding bands, it appears that Keith is not modifying his setlist out of malice towards Nicole … though it seems a reconciliation is unlikely.
