Kelly Clarkson’s Legal Battle with Ex-Husband Comes to an End
Kelly Clarkson’s bitter two-year legal battle with her ex-husband Brandon Blackstock finally came to a close in March 2022. The original American Idol winner agreed to pay Blackstock just over $1.3 million in addition to child and spousal support as part of the divorce settlement.
An insider revealed that the divorce was incredibly difficult for Clarkson, describing it as messy, painful, and something she felt terrible about. Despite the challenges, Clarkson always prioritized her children and wanted them to have the best relationship possible with their dad. She made a conscious effort to never speak poorly about Blackstock to the kids.
As per the settlement, Clarkson agreed to pay Blackstock $115,000 per month in spousal support until January 31, 2024, and $45,601 a month in child support until the children reach the age of 18. The court granted the couple joint legal custody of their two children, with Clarkson obtaining primary custody.
This resolution marks the end of a tumultuous chapter for Clarkson, who can now focus on moving forward and co-parenting with Blackstock in the best interests of their children.
